Agirrezabal: "This range has been developed over many years, during which time we've worked closely with users"

Thanks to Gorka Agirrezabal, we had the opportunity to delve deeper into the creation process of the XM range and learn about the origin of many of its features. Today, we wanted to ask him more questions so we can continue to complete the universe of these new machines.

1. What are the differences between a professional model and a domestic model?

There are a huge number of differences, but here I would highlight two:

    • Durability. You can't compare the useful life of a domestic appliance with the service life of these machines. A professional machine lasts much longer than a domestic one. As I was telling you the other day, this is due to the materials used to strengthen the machines, and the motors. The motors in professional machines are special and not at all like the motors in household appliances, they are something else entirely.
    • Productivity. Nor can you compare the productivity that you'll achieve with a domestic or professional machine. They're simply not comparable; they bear no relation to each other.

2. And why should the user choose Sammic?

As you can see in the discussion about the new machines there are many reasons, but I would highlight four:

    • For me, the main argument is the design of the blade and the hood. As we discussed the other day, this design creates a flow within the container that causes the food to move and so there's no need to move the machine. Thus, perfect blending is achieved almost effortlessly.
    • Ergonomics is another pillar. The grip and the ergonomic design make it very comfortable to work with these machines.
    • Versatility would be another of the main reasons. The ease of changing arms means that the user can choose the arm they need for any given time and situation.

  • Finally, I would talk about the light indicators. I didn't mention them the other day, but they're really important. The indicators give a lot of information about the status of the machine: whether it's plugged in, whether it's blocked, etc. At any time, we can see the information about the status of the machine.

3. What guarantees does Sammic offer as a manufacturer?

As we discussed the other day, we work with end users and are in direct contact with them. We go to their workplaces and see and analyse what they need and how they need it. Our aim is to meet their needs. We don't do it the other way around, by building a machine and going to the user and telling them to try it; it's the opposite. We collect all the information in the kitchens and then define the features to solve their problems. We have more than 50 years of experience in providing such solutions. Also, I want to emphasise that we test all the machines one by one before they leave production. They don't leave the factory until we see that everything is 100% correct.

4. In which markets are these turbo-blenders sold?

These machines are designed to be sold in markets all over the world, and each market has different requirements and approvals. We've adapted the features of the machines so that they can be used in all markets and thus satisfy the different needs of these markets. In addition, we are obtaining the different certifications required for each market.

5. How has the first reaction been from the market? Has it been well received?

Both at the launch and at the trade fairs we have seen that people have welcomed this new range very positively. But I'll take my feedback from all the "field work" we have done during the many years since Javier Hidalgo started this project. I'll take all the prototypes that we have assembled and tested with end users, the comments, the feedback... I'll stick with that. After all, having worked with so many types of users before the launch, we are confident that we have met all the needs that these users have had so far in the kitchen.  This range has not been the work of one or two months, but many years. But during all these years we have been by the side of the users, in tests, making changes, chatting, testing, studying, and more. We have been very lucky to have very different types of users, from the user with small premises to users from large communities.

Besides, this relationship isn't over. We have worked and continue to work with about 50 users and the feedback is continuous. Now, in addition, all the users who buy a machine become part of that network. If any of them tells us that they have a problem with the machine, we follow up very closely and specifically. And if we see that there's a fault, we focus on fixing it. From each situation, we try to draw conclusions and improve.
